Sea Star Seafood Corp. Introduces New Beacon Light Steam Series Line of Microwavable Seafoods

MARLBOROUGH, MA, April 27, 2009 - Sea Star Seafood, a leading producer of case-ready seafoods for the retail food trade, announces the introduction of the Beacon Light Steam Series line of microwavable seafoods. The Steam Series utilizes an innovative venting pouch technology that steam-cooks frozen fillets in about five minutes. The product line, which is produced at Sea Star's processing facility in Marlborough, Massachusetts, features seasoned fish fillets in three popular varieties: Lemon & Dill Atlantic Salmon, Garlic & Herb Mahi Mahi, and Tomato, Basil & Garlic Tilapia.

Sea Star is one of the first seafood processors to embrace the steam-cooking technology which has been in use in the frozen vegetable category for several years.

A significant point of difference offered by the Beacon Light Steam Series is that the fish fillets are flavored with dry seasonings rather than soaked in a sauce or marinade. During cooking, the dry seasonings blend with the fish's juices to create a deliciously, light taste that does not overwhelm the natural fish flavor. The steam cooking process cooks the fish evenly and thoroughly in about five minutes in a standard microwave oven.
